Biography
Selina was born at Maitland in 1876. [1]
On 9 Nov, 1889, a ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the new school buildings at Brokenback school (Brunkerville Public School). The Hon. J. N. Brunker, Minister of Lands, was invited to attend the opening. A young Edgar Gill was selected to read an address on behalf of his fellow pupils, which read as follows:
- "Sir, - We, the pupils of the Brokenback Public School, hereby desire to express the pleasure of seeing in our midst one, who by his untiring zeal in his country's cause has won for himself such high honors.
- Being recipients of the advantages derived from the Public School system, we beg to thank you for your unselfish labours in our interests in procuring for us the new buildings just completed. In conclusion, Sir, we wish you and Mrs. Brunker increased prosperity, and pray that you may long be spared to assist in guiding the affairs of this, our native land, so that it may take a worthy stand amongst the nations of the world.

She married Thomas Avery in East Maitland in 1895. [3]
Selina passed away at Kurri Kurri on 14 Sep, 1959, aged 83 years. [4] She was interred in Mulbring Uniting Church Cemetery, Mulbring, New South Wales, Australia.[5]
