DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
a) this Mary was born 1652
b) her mother is Jane NN
c) her father George Bunker's first wife Elizabeth Godfrey was alive until 1666.
These assertions are incompatible.
Therefore, one of the following is true:
1) Mary is the daughter of Bunker's first wife Elizabeth Godfrey; not his widow Jane NN who remarried to Richard Swain.
2) If Mary is actually the daughter of Jane the widow Bunker, then her current birthdate is at least ten years too early (1652 =/= 1662).
Since (2) is incompatible with BOTH her 1668 recorded marriage, and first child born 1670, (1) is more likely.
Glenn, if you agree will you change her mother to Elizabeth Godfrey and/or find a definitive primary source, or expert project volunteer to validate?
