He remained in New York until the spring of 1885 when they moved to Benkelman, NE where his father took up a homestead northwest of town. Fred is enumerated in Dundy Co with wife, Viola and children Theodore and Alice. According to the 1930 census Fred was a farmer in Dundy, Co. In the same household was his wife, Viola and children: Wesley, Ferne, Ruth , and Ruby Leland and Ruby's husband Byran.
