David Burdge was born around 1670 in possibly Hempstead, Long Island, where we find his father Jonathan Burdge listed in the 1673 census as John Borde. [1] On 1 January 1692, David Burdge (Jonathan's oldest son) signed his name to a deed of Nicholas Simions at Oyster Bay, Queens Co.[2] David and his brother Jonathan deed land on 26 May 1705, to Nicholas Bayard.[1] On 13 May 1706 ,David Burdge of Hempstead, also deeded to Thomas Hedges of Jamaica, Long Island.[1] On 20 May 1715, David Burdge, carpenter of Hempstead, Long Island, buys 685 acres of land in Monmouth Co, New Jersey from Benjamin Borden.[1]
David was a carpenter and farmer.[2] He had three sons (known), Jonathan, Uriah, and David. He died around 1720 and was buried at the Old Burdge Farm in New Jersey.[2]
Burdge and Allied Families states David Burdge was born ca 167?. He left a will dated 1720, so I used that as a death date until a more exact date can be obtained.
