Reuben Burnett was born in Virginia in 1774 to Jeremiah Burnett and Elizabeth Claybrook. [citation needed] Not long after he was grown and married, Reuben joined the westward migration.

There are SEVERAL Reuben Burnetts in this family. Like the Dodsons, each generation repeats given names. Take care that you have them sorted. By the date of the marriage record below, it belongs most likely to a later Reuben-- a son, grandson, nephew or great-nephew. Also note name of this Reuben's son-in-law, "Kanatsher" -- very similar to the name of the wife of James P. Dodson, Mahulda Jane Canatsy.
