Biography

Served in War of 1812; Private, Capt George McAfee's Company, KY. Detached Militia under command of Lt.Col. Gabriel Slaughter. Also in the Regiment were Raney Sallee, Michael Horn, Coleman Short, Jacob Yeast, James Gabbert, James and Thomas Curry, and William Dean. In Battle of New Orleans.

Carol Burris Garafola states that Phillip and Catherine also had a child born ca 1810, another, Archibald W. Burris, who married (1) Mary Muncey and (2) Margaret Reed. However, she states also that the father of Edmund/ Edward Burris and Smith Burris was Archibald Burris (b.Orange Co. VA) md Polly Smith, d/o John W. Smith of Wash. Co. KY.

He drowned to death.
