Biography

Helen A. Bushman^[1][2] was born on 15 July 1930,^[2] in Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey,^[2] to Herman Paul Buschmann and Matilda Brunjes.^[3][4]

In 1935, she was living in Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey.^[4]

In 1940, she was living with her parents and siblings at 310 Stebbins Place, Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, which they were renting for $25 [?] a month. She was attending school, and had finished four years. ^[4]

In 1950, she was living with her parents and siblings, at 1001 South 2nd Street, Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey. The week before the census was taken, Helen worked 40 hours as a typist for a plumbing company. ^[5]

On 8 September 1957, she married Michael Lombardi, in St Mary's Church, Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey. ^{[1] [3]} They had three children.^[2]

They lived in South Plainfield until they moved to a beach house in Forked River.^[2]

On 21 March 2021, Helen died. ^[2] She probably (but not certainly) died in New Jersey, since she was living in Forked River.

   'With profound sadness we announce the passing of Helen Lombardi, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She died peacefully on March 21, 2021 at the age of 90. Helen is the beloved wife of the late Michael Lombardi. She is the much-loved mother of [three]. She is the cherished grandmother better known as "Mimi" of Kristi Bubnick, Jayce Lombardi, Robbie DiDario, Jessica Potts, and Guy Potts II. She is also the great-grandmother of 5. Helen is survived by her beloved brother Gary Bushman.

   'Helen was born in Plainfield, New Jersey and raised her family in South Plainfield until she and Mike moved to their beach house in Forked River.

   'Helen loved her scratch-off lottery tickets, playing video poker and BINGO but what she mostly enjoyed was spending time laughing with family and friends. She was known to sip a "Miller Lite" each evening with dinner. And with that we raise a glass and say "Cheers" to Helen. May she live on thru each of us. She will be missed immensely.'

   'Miss Helen A. Bushman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Bushman of 237 Monroe Ave. and Michael D. Lombardi, son of Mrs. Ann Lombardi of 76 Manning Ave. and the late Gaetano Lombardi, were married Sunday evening in St. Mary's Church.

   'The Rev. Francis E. Byrne performed the 5 p. m. ceremony, and a reception was held in Rendale's, Green Brook.

   'Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of lace over satin. Its sweetheart neckline was trimmed with pearls and sequins, and it featured a chapel-length train. A fingertip veil was attached to a lace headpiece. The bride carried white orchids on a prayer book, surrounded by roses and baby breath.

   'Mrs. Ann Manello of South Plainfield, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a mint green chiffon on taffeta gown and carried white carnations brushed to match the color of her dress.

   'Linda Manello of South Plainfield, dressed like the honor attendant, was junior bridesmaid.

   'Bridesmaids were Miss Eleanor Procacci of 969 S. Second St., Miss Betty Tranosky of Dunellen and Mrs. Lee Carol Biles of Watchung. Miss Procacci wore a gown of shrimp chiffon over taffeta. Mrs. Tranosky's gown was powder blue, and Mrs. Biles' was lavendar [sic]. All carried white carnations brushed to match their gowns.

   'Frank Caruso of South Plainfield was best man. Ushers were William Deluccia of North Plainfield, Joseph Schirripa of North Plainfield, and James Jacobson of North Plainfield.

   'As she left for a wedding trip to Florida, the bride was wearing a black and white checked suit with white accessories. The newlyweds will live at 108 Day St., South Plainfield.

   'The bride attended Irving, Hubbard, and Jefferson schools and Plainfield High School. The bridegroom attended Somerset School and North Plainfield High School.

   'He is an electrician with the Mack Manufacturing Corporation.'
