Biography

Family tradition lists Meek (or possibly James Meek) as one of the sons of Jane and Galbraith, and at least one online family tree lists him as born in 1810.

In the 1820 census there are 3 girls and 2 boys under 10, 1 boy 10-15 and 1 girl 10-15. William was about 11 and Polly was 13. Sarah and probably Rachel are 2 of the younger girls, and Meek would have been one of the boys. This still leaves 2 unnamed children. [1]

In 1830 there are 2 girls and a boy 15-19 (Meek, Sarah, Rachel?), 2 boys and 2 girls age 5-9, and 2 girls under 5. .[2]
