Margaret Blunt died a widow on 20 June 1931 at Springhill house, Kilmarnock, at age 92.[3]
Maggie was a dressmaker at the time of her marriage, and later a merchant's sales assistant. John and Maggie had no children. The younger members of the extended family called her "Auntie Ba."[4]
