MR. D. A. CAMPBELL

The death occurred at his home of Mr. Donald Alexander Campbell (65), a resident of Ruskin Street, Byron Bay, and a well known district resident. Born at Singleton, he came to the Richmond when 20, to reside at Federal, where he carried on a butchering business. He married Mary Ann Wright and later moved to Byron Bay, where he continued in the butchering business until his retirement three years ago.

He is survived by his wife, seven sons, Donald (Rosebank), Frederick (Federal), Arthur, Mervyn, John, Max and Geoff (Byron Bay), and one daughter, Beryl, of Byron Bay. There are nine grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters. One daughter predeceased him.

He had always taken a keen interest in public affairs and sporting activities. He was a keen supporter of the Labor Party and had been an active member of the A.L.P. for many years.

The respect in which he was held in the district was reflected in the large attendence at his funeral, which moved from St. Finbarr's Roman Catholic church for the Byron Bay cemetery. Pall bearers at the church were Donald, Fred, Arthur, Mervyn and John (sons), and L. Glock. At the cemetery there were A. Farrell, J. McDermott. R.GIock, L. Glock, W. Fagan and E. Green. Wreath bearers were M. Gooley, J. Keelan. B. Keelan, D. Black and B. Freeman.[5]
