Biography

There were two distinct men by the name of William H. Carey. Both were born on Eleuthera in 1842 and both died in Key West. The other man is Carey-2995

According to the Bahamas DNA website,they were related. ( The descendants of the two lines share a Y chromosome match, meaning that they belong to the same direct paternal line and share a patriarch with the CAREY surname who likely lived in the Bahamas.)

This record is for the W.H. Carey who was born in the Bahamas in 1842 to Michael Carey and Ann Watkins.

He married Mary KNOWLES OR SANDS (b. Bahamas, m. 4 Dec 1884 Key West, FL)

Michael C. Carey (b. 1847 Bahamas).

Henry passed away in 1912, and was buried in the Key West cemetery. A request for a photo of his grave from Find A Grave yielded these responses: "The office has a record of this person but no known location. Cemetery office confirmed that this burial is unmarked." [3]
