Biography

James was born about 1830, possibly in or around Ballsallagh or Evishnablay, Skerry, Broughshane, Ballymena, Antrim Ireland. Father being Henry Carey, mother unknown at this time....

1864 James Carey age 30, bachelor, residence Evishnablay, Occupation Farmer, married Mary Campbell , age 19, spinster, residence Evishnablay, occupation Farmer. The marriage was solemnized at the Roman Catholic Church of Glenravel, Ballymena, County of Antrim. Witnesses David Carey and Sarah Duffin. [1]

1901Residence house 9 in Evishnablay, Glenravel, Antrim. James Carey age about 73 years, occupation farmer and his wife Mary age about 56 years are found living with James's sisters ,Alice and Margaret. James and wife Mary's children Henry 33, Patrick A. 26, Margaret 24, Daniel 15, Briget 13. Also Mary (Carey) McStay age 36 with 7 of her children. [2]

1906 Located a death which I believe is James Carey age 82 years, occupation farmer, who died due to Senile decay at Evishnablay, Skerry, Broughshane, Ballymena, Antrim. Informant and present at death son Daniel Carey, residence Evishnablay. [3]
