I'm Eowyn, a WikiTree Mentor and Team Member. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. Try to add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country, for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, try to source each profile as you go.
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.
If you need any help getting started check out the Help section,or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.
Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.
Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
I have a family tree of about 1000 persons mainly with the surnames of Carré, Nicolle and Herbert. The Carré and Nicolle families are from the Channel Islands. I am joining as I intend uploading my tree once I can convert it to GEDCOM, probably a couple of weeks time. I have already found family members on Wikitree to which I was directed via myheritage.com, I can add a fair bit of detail to the persons I have already found.
2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.
If you would like to contribute, leave a comment in the box on the left and click the volunteer link and to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.
