Elizabeth Carroll was born in Ballycrenode, Tipperary, Ireland in 1668. She is the daughter of William Carroll of Ballycrenode and his wife Anne.
Elizabeth married James Carroll, probably a cousin, who became James Carroll of Ballycrenode on the death of her father William Carroll of Ballycrenode, because he had 3 daughters and no sons. His daughter Mary had predeceased their father. Probate was granted in 1706.
Elizabeth and James became Protestants and conformed to the Church of Ireland in order to receive their full inheritance which comprised the leases of several farms at Ballycrenode, Ballinamore, Lissen and Ballyvanrane according to Elizabeth's father's will.
They had a daughter Betty.
