Biography
Frank Celeste migrated from Italy to the United States.
Francesco Palm "Frank" Celeste was born on 24 Mar 1907 in Cerisano, Italy.[1][2] He was the son of Serafino "Sam" Celeste and Carolina Santoro.[3] He immigrated to the United States of America when he was eight months old, travelling with his mother on the SS Cretie from Naples in Nov 1907.[4] He then grew up in Monessen, Pennsylvania where his father was a steel mill laborer.[2][5][6][7]
Frank married Margaret Louis on 1 Oct 1932.[3] They met while they were in school at the College of Wooster. They had three children, including Ohio governor Dick Celeste. Frank served as the mayor of Lakewood, Ohio from 1955 to 1963 and had a real estate business.[2][8]
Frank died on 9 Nov 1988 in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital.[1][2] He was buried in Lakewood Park Cemetery in Rocky River, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.[9]
