[Captain Moses Chadwell was born in 1637 at Lynn, Massachusetts. He achieved the rank of Captain in the Massachusetts Militia. He drowned "at sea" in 1684. He was a shipwright by trade. Moses was the son of Thomas Chadwell b: abt. 1612 in Little Barrington, Gloucestershire, England and Margaret Breed b: 1621 England Captain Moses Chadwell married Sarah Ivory b: 1643 in Lynn, Massachusetts, February 1660/61 in Lynn, Massachusetts. Sarah was the daughter of William Thomas Ivory 1601 – 1652 and Ann South 1613 – 1689. In her will written in January of 1724/5, Sarah Ivory Chadwell deeded land to her son-in-law, John Ramsdell (husband of Elizabeth) and her other daughter, Sarah, wife of John's older brother. Son-in-law, John Ramsdell, died shortly after her death and left his estate to Elizabeth. Moses and Sarah were the parents of eight children:
