Note: Delia, b. 19 AUG 1798, is the daughter of Deliverance (Delia) Merry, later Chenery, 3rd wife of William. (Source: Town & VRs, Jay, 1795-1891). Following 2nd wife Susanna Merry's death on 24 OCT 1798, Wililam's intention to marry Susanna's sister Delia (the elder) was filed 31 Dec 1798, and they were married 14 FEB 1799. The younger Delia, recorded in Jay as the daughter of the elder Delia (with no husband/father mentioned), was raised by William as his daughter. It is likely, though by no means confirmed, that this daughter Delia is actually William's child. William and Susannah (aka Sukey) also had a daughter Delia (aka "Dilly"), who died as an infant in 1797.
