Biography

John Churchill was the son of John Churchill and his wife Hannah Pontus. He was born about 1656. In seventeenth century New England, very few people use a middle name. Note: This profile originally had John's middle name as "Pontus", based on the following citation: [1]

Death and Burial

He died intestate. and on 3 August 1723, his son John was granted a letter of administration for his estate.[3]

His inventory was taken on 19 July 1723 in Plymouth. He was a slaveholder and his inventory included an enslaved Indian boy who is not named.[4]

On 14 September 1723 his heirs, John Churchell, Elizabeth Ellis, Joel Ellis, Rebeckah Morton, George Morton, Sarah Churchell, and Hannah Churchell, signed or made their mark on a distribution agreement.[5]
