He was one of the "trusty and loving friends" John Clark named as executor of his 1839 will.[2]
William Clark senior of the West River made his will 18 May 1846. He named his wife Mary, unmarried daughters Mary, Janet Smith, Agnes, Hannah, and Merran, married daughter Isabella (wife of Murdoch Stewart, who had not yet received anything at her marriage), unnamed married daughters, and sons David and William Smith. He named his wife Mary, son William Smith, and son-in-law Thomas Rogers as executors.[3]
His wife Mary was enumerated with their daughters Mary and Marion in 1871 after their son David's household.[4]
