Biography
Martha was born in Shearsby, Leicestershire and was baptised there on 19 April 1835. She was the daughter of William and Martha Clowes. At that time her father was a frame work knitter [1][2].
In 1841 she was living in Crown Bank, Shearsby [3].
In the 1861 census Martha (age 26) was the unmarried house maid of Goodman Payne in Foston, Wigston, Leicestershire [4].
