Biography

William was born in 1844 in Shearsby, Leicestershire, England. He was the son of William Clowes and Martha Dyson.

In the 1851 census William (age 7) was the son of William Clowse on Church Street, Shearsby [1].

He married Millicent Shuttlewood (age Full) on 5 December 1864 in Shearsby [2]. Their children were:

  • John Harry, 1865, Shearsby [3]
  • Fanny, 1868, Shearsby [4]
  • Millicent, 1875, Sheasrby [5]
  • William, 1878, Shearsby [6]
  • Annie, 1881, Shearsby [7]
  • Bertie, 1882, Shearsby [8]

In the 1871 census William (age 27), agricultural labourer, was the married head of household in Shearsby [9].

In the 1881 census William (age 38), fellmonger, was the married head of household in Shearsby [10].

In the 1891 census William (age 48), fellmonger' labourer, was the married head of household in The Bank, Shearsby [11].

In the 1901 census William (age 57), fellmonger' labourer, was the married head of household in Shearsby [12].
