John Clowes served in the War of 1812 Service started: Unit(s): Service ended:
John was born in March 28, 1770, possibly in Deleware[1].
He was an early settler in a location near present-day Harmarville Station: "Among other early settlers on the high lands back from the River were John Clowes."[2]
He had a farm somewhere in the country back from the river, outside of present-day Harmarville and Springdale, Pennsylvania. His descendants may include the Clowes of the area who were cabinet makers, stone masons and cemetery caretakers.

Based on Veterans Burial Card and John Clowes' age, it is very doubtful that he served in the Revolutionary War, but he did serve in the War of 1812. If more source information is found proving that he served in the Revolutionary War, by all means post this to his profile and restore the 1776 Sticker.
