Lettice (Clues) Errington was born in County Durham, England.

Lettice Clues was born in the village of Lamesley, Durham, in 1859 and was the third daughter of James Clues and Elizabeth Hall.[1]


On the 1861 census, Lettice, aged 2 years, is living on Barnsley Lane, Lamesley, with her parents and siblings: Jane (14 years), William (11 years), James (8 years) and Margaret (6 years).[2]

On the 1871 census, Lettice, aged 12 years, is living on Barnsley Lane, Lamesley, with her parents and siblings: Jane (24 years), James (18 years) and Margaret (16 years). Her mother died not long after the census was taken.[3]

Lettice married Smith Errington in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1880 and they had two children.[4]

On the 1881 census, Smith, a police constable, and Lettice are living at 330 Westgate Road, Westgate.[5]

On the 1891 census, Smith, a police constable, and Lettice are living at 7 Kyle Place, Elswick, with their children: John (9 years) and Letty (4 years).[6]

On the 1901 census, Smith, a police constable, and Lettice are living at 11 Fairfield Road, Jesmond, with their children: John (19 years) and Letty (14 years).[7]

On the 1911 census, Smith, a retired police constable, and Lettice are living at 63 Barrington St, Newcastle, with their children: John (29 years) and Letty (24 years).[8]

On the 1921 census, Smith, a retired police constable, and Lettice are living at 33 Malvern Street, Newcastle on Tyne.[9]

Lettice Clues died, aged years, in 1929.[10]
