Based on the baptism dates of the children, John was born sometime before 1761. The profile now suggests a birth date of 1755 which appears to be unsourced.
On 16 February 1779 there is a record of John COTES marrying Mary WARD at Parson Grove, Cambridgeshire.[3] All baptism records of the three known possible sons state parents as John and Mary.
In abt 1790, John was living in Murrow, Cambridgeshire, England. [4]
Research Notes
The research of Graeme COATES[5] suggests John was born in Buckden, Yorkshire, however there is also a Buckden in Huntingdonshire/Cambridgeshire which seems more likely. I have yet to find confirmation of the birth record.Veronica Williams 16 Jan 2014.
I have proof that the Coates family came from Aylestone Cambridgeshire, Graeme this is 62 miles from Buckden, so you could be right. Mary Anne Ward is John's 1st.cousin ,John's father's sister Sarah is her mother. (From the change history, I think this note was left by Stephen Coates 24 Mar 2017. I think he meant to say Aylestone, Leicestershire as this is what is sourced on the fathers profile).
