Research Notes

Sanborn's 2nd Supplement to Torrey, reported the surname to be Bellsire. Douglas Richardson got the information from the Bishop's Transcripts for Chipping Sodbury, County Gloucester. This appears to be the couple who immigrated to New England, as Thomas Davis himself originated from nearby Acton Turville, County Gloucester. The name Bellsire (an alternative form of Belcher) is a common name in the area.
The major source for Puritan Great Migration Project profiles is the work by Robert Charles Anderson. He states on page 315 (but citing only Torrey as his source) that Thomas Davis married Christian Bellsire in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England, on 14 Nov 1622 and that she died at Haverhill, MA 7 April 1668. Anderson shows three children for Thomas and Christian Bellsire his wife: Joanna, Joseph and Mary.

Coffin-2766 and Bellsire-1 appear to represent the same person because: Bell wire is documented maiden name of Thomas Davis' wife. No sources on Coffin profile. Sources on Bellsirr profile. When differences in data use data on Bellsire-1. Thank you.

It appears that Christian Coffin may be a fictitious person who is impersonating the wife of Thomas Davis of Haverhill, who was Christian Bellsire. Please complete the proposed merge according to the WikiTree protocol of Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration work being the primary source for early Colonial immigrants.
Coffin-376 and Bellsire-1 appear to represent the same person because: The major source for Puritan Great Migration Project profiles is the work by Robert Charles Anderson. He states on page 315 that Thomas Davis married Christian Bellsire in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England, on 14 Nov 1622 and that she died at Haverhill, MA 7 April 1668. Anderson shows three children for Thomas and Christian Bellsire his wife: Joanna, Joseph and Mary. Please help WikiTree uphold high standards of genealogical scholarship and evidence based profiles. There is no evidence listed for a wife named Christian Coffin. The only references for her are trees and variations of trees - these are not sources comparable to the work of Anderson. Please merge Christian Coffin INTO Christian Bellsire, with all choices of data in favor of Bellsire. Thank you for your help.
Bellsire-1 and Coffin-376 do not represent the same person because: Different parts of England and no real match.
