Daniel was born in 1849. According to his son Wallace, he was named after a friend of his father's, Daniel Bedell, who is buried in the Pioneer Cemetery in Norwich. Daniel was born and raised a Quaker by his parents,
Francis Cohoe and Elizabeth Wilson. But in 1881 Daniel became a Baptist, and shortly after a Baptist minister,

which is how he is listed in the 1901 census.
[2]
Daniel's mother died when he was 4. When Daniel was 6, his sister Harriet married, and Daniel went to live with her. This and other childhood memories are recounted in "Some Memory Pictures" by Daniel Cohoe.
[3]
Daniel married Miranda Stover in 1874 at the Friends Meeting House in North Norwich.
[4][5]
Their first son, Wallace was born a year later.
[6]
By 1881 the family had grown, adding Albert, age 3 and Elizabeth, age 1,

and Grace in August.
[8]
Before Christmas, the family moved into the Baptist Parsonage in Springford.
Daniel took up divinity studies at Toronto Baptist College and preached at three churches, at Springford at 11 A.M., Otterville at 3 P.M., and Bookton at 7 P.M.
[9]
Son Edgar was born in 1885, and later that year Daniel accepted a call to the Baptist Church in Aurora 30 miles north of Toronto.
[10]
On Christmas eve, 1886 the family moved again, this time back to Norwich Township, where Daniel became minister of the Burgessvillle Church. Here daughter Ruth was born in the summer of 1889, only to pass away the next winter. In 1891 the family moved to Hagersville so the children could live at home and go to High School. But Daniel was not comfortable in a large town, so in the autumn of 1892 they moved to the village of Scotland.
[11]
Daniel and Miranda's last child, Gordon was born in 1896 in Burford, Brant, Ontario
[12]
By 1923 Daniel and Miranda had retired to Burgessville. Daniel passed away in 1942.
