Have found no historical records providing a basis for the reasoning that Joseph Cole (m. Sarah Randall) was the son of John Cole and Mary Chilson.
Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, 141, report Walsingham Chilson's daughter, Mary Chilson, m. 23 December 1658 to John (12) Cole. Same source, p. 155, has entry for John (12) Cole, reporting he was of Saco, buried March 1661. Entry reports about his inventory; but no children are called out as such. Entry includes comment that "Eliphal Cole was bur. 23 Oct 1661." Quite separately, same source contains entry (p. 156) about Joseph (19) Cole (m. Sarah Randall)--making no reference to a father's name.
Said another way, if the authors of Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire were unable to identify the parentage of the man, Joseph Cole (m. Sarah Randall), then what other historical discovery associates this Joseph with a named parent?
The relationship of Joseph Cole to parents John and Mary (Chilson) Cole has been severed pending notice of further historical discovery or reasoning. Likewise, the report of his birth "1659" at Beverly was removed from the vital data.
Profile of Joseph Cole reports he married "1675" in "Saco, York, Maine" to Sarah Randall. One Joseph Cole is known to have married a Sarah Randall, and traces of children born mid- to late-1690s to that couple are also known. Without other supporting sources and reasoning, reports the couple married much earlier seem dubious. (Based on what had been his reported birth, Joseph would have been only 16 years of age in 1675, well below the norm then for age at first marriage; Sarah would have been only about 14.)
Plan to update the record to reflect a later marriage date.

I have entered a profile for Sarah Randall m1 Joseph Cole. Might we collaborate, resolve differences in the data so these profiles can be merged?
(1) What approach can be taken to show that Joseph is the son of the parents reported?
(2) Marriage date of 1675 does not seem right. I have no reason to believe that Sarah would have married so young.
(3) Sarah was probably not the daughter of Richard Randall and Elizabeth Tozier. That Richard Randall has a separate entry in Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire. (Note also that Richard/Elizabeth have children who seem born much later than those reported to the man who was Sarah's father.) Sarah (Randall) (Cole) West did have a brother named Richard, but the Randalls of Cape Porpus haven't been show to be the same family as the Randalls of Dover. See especially York Deeds has testimony by Sarah and her sister Priscilla (1727) as the "Children & only Heirs of Mr. Richard Rundal late of Cape Porpus Mariner "
