Biography

"John Whitesides makes his last appearance alive on the 1806 Fayette County tax list and was definitely deceased by 9 Feb 1807. His heirs are firmly established by pp. 485-487 of Fayette County Deed Book 5. In July 1809 his widow, Catharine (Coons) Whitesides received her dowery rights in the estate (see Fayette County Will Book B, p. 38). She was a daughter of Joseph Coons [Johann Jost Kuntze](1712-1794) of the Little Fork settlement in Culpeper Co, VA.

"[Catharine's son John] was the patriarch of the family after his father's death; his mother, Catharine (Coons) Whitesides came to live with him in 1810 at his plantation at Old Pine Grove, Clark Co, KY, where she died in 1829. Her estate records also help establish the issue of John Whitesides, Senr. of Fayette Co, KY." [1][2]
