Biography: Charles Henry Cox was the eldest son of Charles Corp Cox and Mary Shelton. He never married, but went into the same trade as his father (Commercial Traveller). At 17 he was a scholar living in his mothers house in East London. His father died that year. By 1881, aged 36, he was living with his uncle in Bath, probably because his job took him there. This connection proves the link between the Bath Cox family of George Cox and the Camberwell Cox family of Charles Cox (snr). Ten years later, Charles was living with his elder sister in Newington, Southwark (his mother having died and passed the house and business on to her unmarried children). Charles probably took on the role of the man of the family, and lived the rest of his life there. He appears on his younger brother Walter's marriage documents, in lieu of their father.
