Maria Magdalena was born in Hurley, New York. She was baptized on February 12, 1662 by Domine Hermanus Blom, of Kingston, Ulster, N.Y. Shw was recorded as Marimaddeleen, child of Antoni Crepel and Maria Blanchan. Witnesses were Mattys Blanchan, Cateryn Blanchan, and Maddeleen Blanchan.[1]
On June 7, 1663, Maria Magdalena, her mother and five other women and fifteen children from Hurley were captured by the Esopus Indians after an attack on the "New Village" (Hurley), but later rescued.
She married Mathys Slegt by about 1680. Their children included:
