In 1800 Hugh Carrin (sic), 26-44, was living in Hillsborough District, Granville, North Carolina, with White Female 26-44, 9 children: White Males 10-15: 1, under 10: 2; White Females 16-25: 1, 10-15: 1, under 10: 3; and Slaves: 1.
In 1810 Hugh Curry (sic), 45 and over, was living in Granville with White Female, 45 and over, and 10 children: White Male 16-25: 2, 10 -15: 1; White Females 26-44: 1, 16-25: 2, 10-15: 4.[2]
In 1820 Hugh Currin, age 45+, may have been living in Tar River, Granville, North Carolina with eldest son Larkin Currin, whose record showed five White Males: 45+: 1, 19-26: 2, 16-18: 2; and six White Females: 45+: 2, 16-26: 4 . James, Lemuel and Wiatt were also present in Granville County.[3]
Hugh Currin made a will on 9 Nov 1818 in Granville, North Carolina, with a codicil on 27 Jan 1823. The will was proved in the Nov 1823 Court term. The will named beloved wife Mary, and seven sons: Larkin, Benjamin, John, Lemuel, James, Willie, and Wiart (Wyatt). The will also referred to daughters who might be marrying. The entire estate went to Mary Currin, who was empowered, if she chose, to provide bed furniture upon the marriage of any of the daughters. If son Larkin left home or married, he could receive furniture. If son Benjamin left his mother or got married, he would receive furniture. Each of the other sons was to receive 5 shillings sterling. At Mary's death, the estate was to be divided equally among "the rest" of the children.[4]
