William Griffith Daff was born on 14 January 1851 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England.[1] He was the son of Jane (Swallow) Daff and William Daff.
Emigrated to Australia on the Thorwaldsen in 1852 with parents and siblings.[2]
In 1875 he was married to Emma Roberts in Victoria, Australia. [3]

William died on 29 September 1924 in Malvern, Victoria, Australia, aged 73 years.[4]
