Hugh Barr Dalgliesh was born on November 28, 1864 in Sutton, Brome, Quebec, Canada.

Hugh married Mary Hopkins on December 1, 1887 in Omaha, Nebraska[1][2].

His daughter was Mary Edna Dalgliesh (1895–1987).

Hugh died on December 10, 1945 in Hawarden, Sioux, Iowa, United States, aged 81[3].
