Research Notes

Needs profiles for siblings and parents.

Formal first name is uncertain; "James" is an educated guess based on nickname Jim. Birth year estimated based on possible match to an 1880 US Federal Census record (via Ancestry.com) for "James Daniel" born in the same town that wife Mary Alice Abrams was known to have lived in (2nd Ward, Union, Louisiana).

His widow appears with the kids in Pulaski Co., Arkansas in 1920.[4]

Hi Denise,

David Daniel's children don't seem to match Jim Daniel's children on my tree. Most of Mattie Lee Daniel's children (including my grandmother) are still living, so I am pretty certain about the names of Mattie's siblings. What are your thoughts? I appreciate your proposal so much and glad at the prospect of linking our tree to another if true.

Looks like the confusion is with the mother, Mary Alice (Abrams) Daniels. This Mary Alice was born and was living in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. I did find another Alice in Union County, Louisiana. Here is the link to the Marriage record. https://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/12853:7837. Perhaps this is who you intended to add as the mother?
Daniels-6794 and Daniels-5767 appear to represent the same person because: All census and marriage records, indicate his name is David after the 1880 census.
Daniels-6794 and Daniels-5767 do not represent the same person because: David Daniels and James Daniels are two different people. Different dod, different sets of children. Conflated spouse.
