US Black Heritage Project
Denise (Harden) Jarrett is a part of US Black heritage.
Africa Project
Denise (Harden) Jarrett has African ancestry.
Denise was featured in a Meet Our Members Post on the G2G Forum!
Denise (Harden) Jarrett was born in Cleveland, Ohio.

I began documenting our family history in 1990 when my father, Walter Harden, began aging. I would write down the names of family members he found as a result of his search. His father passed away when he was a young boy, so after his mother passed away in 1964, he began searching for relatives from his father's side of the family with a passion.

Today, I use Family Tree Maker and Ancestry.com to maintain over 35 trees, one major tree has over 30, 000 individuals, which includes extended family members in one tree and I manage about 15 others.

I have shared my research results at family reunions in the form of family history books. I am always reminding family that these books are a 'work in progress' because they change constantly and are usually outdated by the end of the reunion.

I have helped many to make a connection and I have personally connected with family lines lost. I look forward to helping other WikiTreers as well.

Family

I married James Phillip Jarrett on June 8, 1991 in Columbus, Ohio. We have two lovely daughters: Jalisa and Mariah. My husband passed away Sep 2019 and I retired from Nationwide Insurance after 42 years in October, 2020.

Greetings Denise,

We have been searching for information on my great grandfather, Savage Logan. Thank you for posting his tombstone with the date of his death!

My mother, Charlotte Galloway Cartwright, spoke of cousins named Bullock and Butler. She lived in Philly, until moving to New York with my father, after WWII.

Are you related to Savage Logan? How?

Hi Denise, you've added a cemetery category that doesn't yet exist, to a profile, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Myers-22264#categories The red category needs to have it's category creation completed, preferably with a Cemetery Category Info Box added as content.

Thanks for your help, regards, Margaret, Categorization Project volunteer

Hi Denise, this category sent for renaming, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Bryan_Neck_Missionary_Baptist_Church%2C_Richmond_Hill%2C_Georgia, needs the new category to be created before Editbot can move the profiles. See the link to the new category is red, because it has not been created. The name of the new category should also have the town and state.

Thanks for your help, regards, Margaret, Categorization project volunteer.

Hi Denise, Happy Thanksgiving! I have a lot of white southern ancestors and periodically I come across a will that mentions slaves by name. I have often thought those wills may help someone trace their family but where to post them? If you think these would be helpful let me know and I will be happy to post them.
Hi Elaine,

Hope you have been enjoying this holiday season. To share the wills you have found, you can either send them to me or post them on the G2G forum and tag them Black Heritage and a member of our team will pick them up.

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for joining the USBH Weekend Sprint—adding birth locations. In 3 days we added 1792 locations! We also made many other valuable improvements to profiles. Together we cleared 19% of the profiles needing love!

Hi Denise, you've been placing a template on profiles (slavery) that doesn't exist. Was there something you were trying to do with this template? Maybe you were thinking of adding categories? Emma :-)
Yes, I thought I was adding a slavery category to those who were born slaves. Was that not correct?
Anything inside double wavy brackets is a template--usually for a sticker or a link. This is never a category. We are going to work on our slavery categories soon, but for now they are here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Slavery%2C_United_States_of_America All categories go above the Biography heading and have double brackets [[. ]] We can start a post in the group about how to categorize profiles.
