On the 15 Fructidor year 1802 (02/september/1802) of French republic, of birth of the citoyen Jean DAVID born this day, son of Pierre DAVID, agriculteur and of Marie ANDROND, married and living in Hure. The sex of child is male by declaration done by Pierre DAVID father of the baby. Were present : Michel Birot et Jean-Baptiste Feaugas, agriculteurs all living in Hure and who sign with the father. Established by me Francois Feaugas mayor of Hure. Following 4 signatures. [citation needed]About 1823, Jean David left France for the Island of Marie Galante, French West Indies. He remained there a short while, then sailed for New Orleans. From New Orleans Jean went to Point Coupee, then Natchitoches and from there in 1825 to Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
In 1840, "John" David married Sarah Anne "Cerienne" Bradley, daughter of Terry Bradley and Sarah Duncan, in Rapides Parish.
John David and many of his family were in the mercantile business in Louisiana. [2]
