Thomas Davies (or Davis) was born in 1839, and christened on 18 Sep 1839 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. He was the son of William Davies and Mary (Brownbill) Davies. His father's occupation was recorded as watch maker, and the family's address as Eccleston.
