Find a Grave, Family Search, and Ancestry information do not support Mary Newell as being a wife of John Peter Davis. Records indicate that Mary Newell was the wife of Thomas Davis and three of the children linked here: Clara, Thomas, and Rhoda Davis are not children of John Peter Davis and Mary White Davis.
John was the son of Benjamin Davis and Rachel Port. His parents were living in Craven, SC at the time of his birth. He was a twin to Benjamin Davis and one of 6 sons in the family who fought in the American Revolution. He married Mary White in 1772 in South Carolina. He is described as being over 6 ft. tall at 17 years of age and may have been born with Mar pans Syndrome, which could help explain his death at an early age.
His wife Mary was born in 1754. He served in the American Revolution as a Sgt. in Capt James Giles Troop, Col. William Hills Regt., Sumters Brigade, and State Troops. He is said to have passed away between 1791 and 1800. DAR records indicate 1791.
John and Mary had two known children Zabon F. b. Jan. 1773 and Mary b. 1776-1777.[8]

Good morning, I hope that you are doing well. Thank you for your interest in the profile of John Davis. My focus was on Zabron/Zabon Frances Davis and I created the profile for him. At that time a profile was not showing for his father so I created one with the information that was available across Family Search, My Heritage, and Ancestry. The profile I created was merged with the one created by Miguel Holguin so maybe Miguel has some answers to your question. There are only two known children of John Peter and Mary Davis: Mary and Zabron - I did not add the others and have not had time to research them to see if they should be removed. It is highly possible that they should be.
