Biography

John was born about 1815. He passed away on the 4th of August, 1892 in Pisgah, DeKalb County, Tennessee and would be buried in the Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery in Pisgah, DeKalb County, Tennessee

Research Notes

Though the memorial at Find a graves says John Marion Davis, the tombstone DOES NOT! I've never seen any source or document that shows his middle name to be Marion.

  • "James H. Lawrence and James H. Close, administrators of estate of Pharris Lawrence report $187.92 from the sale of slaves. Total amount to be distributed to heirs $347.31, hence each to receive one share as follows:
