Born Mary Ann was born soon after her mum and dad immigrated from Cornwall. Her dad was employed for his copper mining experience. She was the third child. They lived in the company town section of Burra called Kooringa.

Eugene died on 29 December 1894 with a lung disease while living in Sutton Forrest. Mary Ann married William Barnsley in 1896 and they had two children Cecil Clyde and Alma. When the older Taylor children went to school they would call in to see Granma Dennis and she would give them a peppermint, it was too hot so after they left they would spit them out. Christiana died on 20 January 1914 at Hill Street, West Kogarah and she is buried in Woronora Cemetery with her daughter Mary Ann and William Barnsley. A funeral notice appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on 21 January 1914 for Christiana– “The friends of Mr. & Mrs. W.T. Barnsley are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of their late dearly love mother, Christiana Dennis, to leave the corner of Hill Street and Webber Road, West Kogarah this afternoon at (?) o’clock for Church of England Cemetery, Sutherland via Carlton Street.”
