Biography

Isabella is named as Isabella Franklin in her father's will, written in 1843.[1] An Isabella Devaul married Joseph Frankland/Franklin on 10 September 1809 in Belmont County, Ohio.[2]

In 1820, Joseph Franklin is living in Morgan County, Ohio, near his father-in-law Daniel Devolld and some other members of the Devolld family. The household consists of one free white man between 26 and 45 (presumably Joseph), one free white woman between 26 and 45 (probably Isabella), and three free white males and one free white female under ten.[3]

Joseph and Isabella appear to still be in Morgan County in 1830, though not with other Devollds. The household contains one male between 40 and 50, one female between 30 and 40, one female and two males between fifteen and twenty, two males between ten and fifteen, and two males between five and ten.[4]

The family later moved to Henry County, Indiana; on the 1850 census, an Isabella Franklin, born Pennsylvania in 1792, is living with 26-year-old David Franklin and his wife and daughter.[5] In 1854, Isabella Franklin of Henry County, Indiana granted Levi Devolld of Noble County, Ohio power of attorney to deal with her inheritance from the estate of Daniel Devolld.[6]

Devolld-40 and Devolld-6 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and siblings.

Devold-2 and Devolld-6 appear to represent the same person because: Dates and husband's name match; children's sexes are consistent with what appears on the 1820 and 1830 census for Devolld-6 and husband Joseph Franklin.
