sources 1910 fed census for his father Bartolo DeLorenzo and family living in Cherry Township, sulivan county, Pennsylvania.Last name spelled de instead of Di but family members are correct and my dad Joseph Dilorenzo remembered that they lived in Pennsylvania. A copy of this census is in his images. Also he is listed in the 1920 and 1940 fed census for Rochester,ny.Also i copied the ships manifest and a photo of the ship he came to the U.S.A on. when he came to the usa in 1909 from the ellis island records. These are in his photos and images..My grandfather, Bartolo worked in the coal mines there.

My Dad Joe was a very out going person. He loved people and parties. He was an excellent dancer and sang baretone very well.He met my mom at adance when he was 21 and she was17.They married about 5 months later in the city offices in Rochester,ny on Jan.14,1925.They lived with his family for a couple of years, had a daughter and moved to an apartment.A second and 3rd daughter were born. Then they were able to buy a house because my mom went to work in a factory making guns during the war between 1943-1945.Dad liked to fish especially at Rice Lake in Canada and hunted deer etc.Dad loved to play cards with his buddies and attend the horse races. When he visited Las Vegas he had a great time!He smoked cigarettes for about 60 years and died a month before his 92nd birthday of emphasema and heart disease. He was still driving his car just before hospitalization in Dec,1994 and mentally so sharp. He was very healthy, only had a cold occasionally tll about 85 years of age when he deveoped heart problems. Dad was cremated and his ashes are with my mother at White Haven Cemetery in Rochester,NY

The family lived in Bernice, Cherry township,Pensylvania(census record 1910),where Bartolo worked in the coal mines. At some point Antonia's brother,Salvatore Randazzo died in the coal mine and the family moved to Rochester,ny before 1912.Joe went to school, but quit at 12 years of age to help the family. He worked in a shoe factory and later became a waiter and bartender. He enjoyed that job so much that he retired finally at 80 to care for his wife,Audrey. They were married for 61 years.

Joe was born in Grotte,Sicily on March 10,1903.When he needed proof of his age,his birth was listed officially as April 3,1903.Probably the date it was registered or he might have been baptized on April 3.We always celebrated his birthday on March 10.He arrived in New york city on Feb.7,1909 on the ship,San Giorgio with his mother ,Antonia and his brothers Charley and Tony.(Ellis island records)His father,Bartolo had come here in 1905,worked and saved money so his family could come too. this took him 4 years...
