Edgerton was born in Ontario Canada to Herbert Diamond, a clerk, and Mima Ellenor. The family relocated to Toledo, Ohio when he was an infant.
He married Maria Biddle on 11 Sep 1909 in Detroit, Michigan. Tragically, he passed away a month later on 13 Oct 1909 in an accident at the railyard where he worked as a switchman.
