Obadiah Dickinson born July 28, 1704, [1][2][3]died June 24, 1788[4] at age 84, son of Nathaniel and Hannah (White) Dickinson, He married (first), May 26 1727, Mary Belding born July 27, 1705, daughter of John Belding, and (second), about 1756 Martha Waite, of Hatfield, Massachusetts. was the granddaughter of Sergeant Benjamin Waite who was killed by Indians and French in support of Deerfield to whose aid his hastened February 19, 1704.[5]
Tombstone Inscription: Sacred to the memory of that venerable man, Deacon Obadiah Dickinson, who early witnessed a good confession, who through various dispensations, in prosperity and adversity, exemplified the religion of Jesus; who, for many years, used the office of a deacon well, and purchased to himself a good degree and great boldness in the faith, who, in the hope of a better life, fell asleep, June, A. D. 1788, in the 84th year of his age.

Conway, Massachusetts was first settled in 1762 as the southwest portion of Deerfield. The town was eventually separated and was officially incorporated in 1767.
Franklin County was not created until 1811. Previously, the area was part of the northern third of Hampshire County.
