Biography

John Dodge, Jr., was born on 15 April 1662, in Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of John Dodge and Sarah Porter.[1][2][3]

John married Martha Fiske in about 1682, but at least by 1688, in Wenham, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[4] They registered the births of two children in Wenham, while two more are known from their father's probate documents:

After Martha Fiske Dodge died on 29 Dec 1697, in Wenham,[9] John remarried on 11 Apr 1698, in Beverly, Essex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. His second wife was Ruth Grover.[10][11][12] They registered four children in Wenham:

John Dodge, Jr., died on January 18, 1703/4, in Wenham, Essex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[17]

Probate

John Dodge, Jr.'s Last Will and Testament was dated 7 Apr 1703.[18] In it he designated his brother, Josiah, and his wife, Ruth, as his executors. He divided his real estate properties between his sons (Phinehas, separately, Amos and Nehemiah, to share a portion) and, after providing for his widow with all his "moveable" property and an annual income of s20, he bequeathed what remained of the "moveables" equally to his four daughters: Martha, Elizabeth, Ruth, and Sarah. In the event there was an additional child born to him and his wife, that child would receive £20 from his eldest son, Phinehas, if he or she survived. If any of the children died before reaching the age of 16, that child's portion would be divided equally among the survivors.

Amos and Nehemiah reached an agreement on the division of their inherited properties on 21 Apr 1712.[19]

The DOB source for John is actually for John Dodge-1178. Source lists Sarah Proctor as mother.
