Biography

When Nathan B. Dolbier was born on May 1, 1797, in Lewiston, Maine, to Ruth Edes, age 32, and Benjamin Dolbier, age 37. Nathan B. Dolbier married Mary Dyer on October 27, 1818, when he was 21 years old. His wife Mary passed away on September 28, 1851, in New Portland, Maine, at the age of 53. They had been married 32 years. Nathan B. Dolbier married Mary Ann Hatterson on May 26, 1862, when he was 65 years old. He died on September 2, 1874, in Kingfield, Maine, having lived a long life of 77 years, and was buried there.

Nathan spent most of his youth on a farm in Freeman, Maine. He married Mary Dyer and settled in New Portland, Maine on a good farm. Nathan's son Benjamin stayed with his father on his farm until 1870. Then the entire family moved to a farm in Kingfield, Maine.

He m. 2nd Mary Ann Hatterson May 26, 1862.

His will reads as follows:

Be it known that I Nathan Dolbier of Kingfield in the county of Franklin and state of Maine, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, to make publish and declare this my last will and testament and herein dispose of all my worldly estate in manner following, to wit:
1st I order and direct my executor herein named to pay all my just debts and funeral charges as soon as may be after my decease.
2nd I give and bequeath to my two daughters, Ruth Wyman and Sarah M. Dyer the sum of one dollar each.
3rd I give and devise to my children as follows - to William Dolbier to the heirs of my deceased daughter Lydia Bartlett to Henry C. Dolbier Eunice V. Mayo Mary A. Leslie Catherine Tufts Nathan Dolbier Jr Josephine Bartlett and Nancy C. Knapp to their heirs and assigns forever a parcel of land laying between land owned by A. U. Hind [?] and land owned by the widow of Ira S. French, the same as was deeded to me Josiah French containing two acres more or less.
Lastly I give and bequeath and devise to my son Benjamin Dolbier his heirs and assigns for ever all the rest residue and remainder of my estate real personal and mixed wherever found and however situated but in event of his decease I give bequeath and devise the same to his four sons Walter Nathan Edgar and Charles Dolbier, and I do hereby appoint William Dolbier sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this first day of September in the year of our lord one thousand eight-hundred seventy four.
