Ann (Donald) Riddel was born in Scotland.

Ann Donald was born about 1842 in Towie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. A child of James Donald and Isabel Smith. She was baptised August 1, 1842.^[1]

John married Ann Donald June 16, 1866 in Towie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.^[2]

Ann is with two of her children in 1871.^[3]

The couple registered the births of at least six children before the 1881 census; Isabella, Mary, John, James Donald, Betsy and William Bissett.

Ann and John are with five of their children on census night, 1881.^[4]

Ann (Donald) Riddel came free to the Colony of Queensland (1859-1900)

The family left Scotland, bound for Mackay, in the colony of Queensland in 1882. They are listed in the ISTG transcript of the passenger list as free passengers.^[5]

Ann and John registered the birth of at least one child in Queensland; Alexander Edward Harris.

Ann passed away January 20, 1913 in Mackay District Hospital, Mackay, Queensland, Australia.^[6] She was interred with her husband at Walkerston Cemetery located in Walkerston, Queensland, Australia.^[7]

   The full monument covers two plots, it features white concrete curbing and white stone infill. A white marble stele sits atop a concrete pedestal. The stele is in a gothic style with a pointed top and caps that resemble gothic pillars. A releif of a hand with index finger pointing up can be seen pointing to the tympamun in the shape of three circles, representing the Holy Trinity or Heaven. The riased lead inscription reads:

   DIED 23RD JUNE 1911
   AGED 72 YEARS.

   The site is in very good condition, especially considering it's age. Only some of the lead has come away from the ledger. No plaques or stakes were found near this site.
