Biography

Elizabeth Dorman was born in about 1802 in Durham, England, United Kingdom. ^[1]

She married Joseph Jefferson, bachelor, by banns when she was about 27 years old. They were married at St. Andrew's Chapel by John Callinson, Curate on December 27, 1829. Witnesses to the marriage were John Dormant and Margaret Jefferson, their siblings. Joseph and Elizabeth both signed their full names. Elizabeth and John both wrote their names with a "T" at the end, not Dorman like was used sometimes for other family records. ^[2] Together they had 4 children.

In the 1841 census Elizabeth was 35 years old and living with her husband and three children in Low Eighton, Durham, England.^[1]

Elizabeth Jefferson died in April 1843 in Low Eighton, Durham, England.^[3] Her burial record said she was 40 years old, but her death record, 30. She was laid to rest at the St Andrew's Churchyard on April 29, 1843. ^[4]
