Biography
Joseph Jefferson was born on August 7, 1805 in Wickham, Durham, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of Henry Jefferson and Jane Walker. Joseph, son of Henry & Jane, was baptised on 29 September 1805 in Whickham, Durham, England.[1]
He married Elizabeth Dorman on April 26, 1829 at St Andrews Church in Lamesley, Durham. [2]
In the first England census, in 1841, Joseph was 35 years old and living with his wife and three children in Low Eighton, Durham, England.[3]
He died on January 31, 1887 at Wreckenton-row in Gateshead, County Durham, England, United Kingdom at the age of 81 years.[4] He was laid to rest at the St Andrews Churchyard cemetery in Lamesley along with his wife Elizabeth (1802-1843) and their infant son William (1837-1837) [5] His estate was proved by his brother-in-law James Dorman.
JEFFERSON Joseph. Personal Estate £681 3s. 9d. 4 March. The Will of Joseph Jefferson late of Wreckenton-row in the Borough of Gateshead in the County of Durham who died 31 January 1887 at Wreckenton-row was proved at Durham by James Dorman of Chester-le-street in the said County Innkeeper and Walter Galloway of Eighton Banks in the said County Surgeon the Executors.[6]
