Found William Drennan in Sangamon County, Illinois, 1830 Census Roll Number 0007649 FHL Salt Lake City. William is the father to John L. Drennan

Found a John Drenon (Drennan) Page 58, Roll 007644, Sangamon County, 1840 Illinois Federal Census FHL, Salt Lake City. He is 32 in 1840. He didn't marry Nancy Jane Dodds until 1842, but he is 11 years older than she is. I have always wondered if he could have been married previously to his marriage to Nancy. Could this be it?

John L. Drennan found in the 1850 Federal Census for Sangamon County, Illinois. First four of John L. and Nancy Jane Drennan are listed. Two other Drennans are listed. The ages are higher that the oldest of the listed children. It looks like they could be John's from a previous marriage. Thomas aged 16 and Malinda aged 11. Looking at the 1840 Census, it looks like there could have been other children. The two listed in 1850 seem to fit what is shown in 1840.

Estate record of John L. Drennan Shows distribution of estate to Widow Nancy Jane Drennan and to nine children, Mary Jane Hagetelle, Thomas H. Drennan, Malinda Drennan, George L, Benjamin F., Gilbert C., Charles, David A., and Alfred L. The first 3 children are step children to Nancy Jane Dodds Drennan. I do not know the mother's name to the 3 children. Book 1 Dec 1849 - Jan 1853, Book 2, Feb 1853 - Jan 1857. FHL Film # 1313273.
